Rubber Gym Floor Cleaning, Care & Maintenance

MO REPS Rubber Gym Flooring absorb strong impact, vibration & noise. More than that, our gym floor tiles are very easy to clean & care for. By following these easy guidelines, you will have a floor that remains “as new” for many years.

Cleaning Agents to Use

  • Only use mild, pH neutral cleaners, neutral means a pH level of 7 to 8. (Examples: Earth Choice, Neutralex, Diluted Vinegar) Use in small amounts only.
  • Never use chlorinated cleaners.

    Newly-Installed Gym Flooring

A first rinse is needed to remove the waxy topcoat on the rubber gym tiles applied at the factory.
    • Your mop should be nylon or microfiber.
      • Avoid cotton mop heads because cotton tends to leave lint behind.
      • Ensure that your mop is only damp, and not dripping wet.
    • Apply: Using a mop, apply the mild cleaning agent as specified above.
    • Rinse: Go over the flooring with clean water to rinse.
    • Dry: Open the windows and use a fan to help the floor dry quickly.
    • Note: Do not flood the floor or use water excessively.

      Daily Cleaning and Maintenance

      • Maintain a clean gym: Vacuum daily to remove dirt, as well as keep dust to a minimum.
      • Remove spots or spillages daily using a clean damp microfibre cloth or sponge.

Weekly / Interim Cleaning and Maintenance

        • Vacuum thoroughly to remove all dirt and grit.
        • Apply: Using a nylon or microfiber mop, apply the mild cleaning agent as specified above.
        • Rinse: Go over the flooring with clean water to rinse.
        • Dry: Open the windows and use a fan to help the floor dry quickly.
        • Note: Do not flood the floor or use water excessively.

          Periodic Cleaning for Heavy Soiling

          • Vacuum thoroughly to remove all dirt and grit.
          • Fully clean the floor using a damp mop (cleaning routine specified above).
          • If heavy soiling is still present, consider using an auto-scrubbing machine such as Rotowash or Duplex. Only use pH neutral cleaning agents.

            Some Important Maintenance Tips:
            • Use commercial quality entry mats at main entrances to trap dirt and prevent tracking.
            • If you can, make the beverage of choice in the gym pure water. If not cleaned up straight away, energy drinks, Powerade, coffee may leave a stain or a sticky residue.
            • Removing chewing gum: To remove chewing gum, you can use a number of generic brands or alternatively, use ice packs to freeze the gum and remove with a scraper.
            • If you can, consider removing your gym floor tiles once a year to vacuum and mop beneath it. Tiles have penetrable edges, and eventually, fine particles will sift through them. Water can do the same, so use a mop that is only slightly damp when cleaning. Take up the tiles, and give both the underlay and the tiles themselves a sanitising wash.
